Tulsa's own and internationally renowned interior designer Charles Faudree will be honored at the 15th annual Tulsa CARES Red Ribbon Gala on Saturday at Southern Hills County Club.
The event will recognize Faudree for his 20 years of dedication to the organization, as well as his generosity to RAIN, the Hope Candlelight Tour and many other Tulsa charities.
"Charles was one of the founding members of Tulsa CARES and our annual fundraising event the Red Ribbon Gala," said Sharon K. Thoele, Tulsa CARES executive director. "It is an extreme privilege to honor him for all his work, dedication and vision for our community."
Faudree's nearly four decades as an interior designer have allowed him to work throughout the U.S. and Europe. His designs have appeared in numerous publications including Veranda, House Beautiful, Southern Living, Southern Accents, Traditional Home, Renovations Style, House and Garden and Country Living.
Additionally, his work is featured in a variety of decorating books such as "Garden Style," "Country Kitchens," "Creative Ideas for Decorating," "Decorating by Southern Living," "Southern Accents Christmas," "House Beautiful Christmas" and "Great Country French Style."
He is also featured in the book "Traditional Homes Signature Style." He received the award for Traditional Home's Designer of the Year in 1995 and was chosen as one of the top designers in America by House Beautiful in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
His first book, "Charles Faudree's Country French Signature,'' was released by Gibbs-Smith Publishers to wide acclaim in 2003 and is now in its ninth printing with more than 60,000 copies sold.
He has promoted the book in lectures around the country, and USA Today and many magazines have written feature articles on the work as well.
A second book, "Charles Faudree's Country French Living,'' was released in 2005, followed in early 2008 by "Charles Faudree's Florals and Interiors" written with his friend and the multitalented floral designer Toni Garner.
Later in 2008, he released ''Charles Faudree's Interiors.'' His newest book, "Charles Faudree's Details,'' has just been released.
He has collaborated with Vervain to create his own fabric line. The line contains original artwork and documents inspired by Faudree and has been translated into more than 30 fabrics in over 150 color combinations. One toile, aptly named Cavalier Toile, features his two Cavalier King Charles spaniels. This fabric is the cornerstone of his line.
Red Ribbon Gala chairman is Isaac Rocha, and Tamra and David Sheehan are honorary chairmen. Others helping coordinate the evening include Julie Kruger, patron chairman; Chris Murphy, live auction chairman; Amanda Viles, silent auction chairman; Todd Pyland, graphics chairman; Robin Labutti, marketing chairman; Palmer Johnson, rsquared chairman; Talmadge Powell, event planner; Patricia Chernicky, adviser; Ryan Jude Tanner, past chairman; and Seana Murray, director of development.
Tulsa CARES is the only organization of its kind in northeast Oklahoma and has the longest history of any HIV/AIDS social service agency in the state. Its success lies in giving the most comprehensive and compassionate care to people with HIV/AIDS.
Each year, the Red Ribbon Gala helps raise funds for Tulsa CARES in order to provide basic social services, including housing, clothing, food, mental health counseling and medication assistance to hundreds of low-income people in the community living with HIV. The proceeds from last year's event assisted more than 500 men, women and children.
