Susan Sadler has a surprise for you.
Of course, you're not going to find out now -- wouldn't be much of a secret, don't you know.
"We're not telling what it is yet," Sadler said recently, not willing to give even the slightest hint.
Sadler is a local jewelry designer and a board member for Tulsa CARES, which is having its 10th annual Red Ribbon Gala Saturday night at Southern Hills Country Club.
Her surprise is one of many live and silent auction items, one of which is another Sadler creation -- a pair of diamond earrings valued at $5,000.
"They're flirty -- they sparkle and wink at you," she said of the 19-karat gold dangle earrings with three briolette diamonds -- two are white, one is chocolate. The pair is being raffled off at $100 a ticket, with the winner announced during the gala.
Another biddable treat from the auction comes from artist Linda Stevens, who will donate a custom-beaded item of your choice. Some of her pieces include intricately beaded bottles of Beefeater gin and Chopin vodka, as well as pop cans and cereal boxes.
The Pooch Package includes a red leather pet bed trimmed in ostrich-patterned leather and filled with all-natural dog treats, all from The Dog Dish. It also features five days of Doggie Daycare, treats, and other toys from the Ritz Barklton, plus a custom pet portrait by artist Matt Moffett.
Also up for auction is a watch donated by Miss Jackson's; a scarf by Duane MenN; a necklace by local artist Donna Prigmore; Patrick Gordon's "North Icelandic Poppies" oil on canvas; a stay at The Ambassador Hotel, with dinner at the Chalkboard restaurant and drinks at 818; a four-night couples' retreat to Santa Fe; four-night stay in New York City; a week's stay in Jamaica; and an LPGA golf package.
Comedian and Emmy-winning actor Leslie Jordan will be the master of ceremonies. Cocktails and the silent auction start at 6:30 p.m., followed at 7:30 p.m. by dinner and the live auction. Music and dancing start swinging at 9:30 p.m.
Tickets are $150 per person, and everyone is encouraged to wear red.
